A tontine is a centuries-old rotating-savings mechanism where a group contributes regularly and each member receives the pooled amount in turn — a cornerstone of mutual finance in many regions of the world. Traditionally managed by a trusted human organizer with a notebook and a lot of good faith, tontines are ripe for a modern, digital, secure rebuild. That is exactly what Tontineo is. Developed with Flutter and available on the Google Play Store, the app lets users create, join, and manage tontine groups with advanced payment, communication, and tracking features that make the whole practice safer and more transparent for everyone involved.

Tontine management

Creating a tontine on Tontineo is flexible and intuitive. The organizer configures the number of members, the contribution amount, and the frequency (weekly, monthly, or any custom cadence). Several drawing modes are available: a pre-agreed fixed order, a random draw that happens on schedule, or a member vote to decide the next beneficiary. Throughout the lifecycle of the tontine, contributions and beneficiaries are tracked in real time, so every participant always knows exactly where the group stands.

Secure payments

Stripe integration handles every transaction with the same security standards a bank would demand. Automatic contribution payments are available for Premium users — "set it and forget it" tontine participation, without the friction of monthly manual transfers. Multiple payment methods are supported, and a detailed transaction history is always one tap away for every user.

Group management

A code-based invitation system makes joining a tontine effortless and prevents strangers from sliding into private groups. An integrated chat keeps communication inside the app, so discussions about rules, schedule, or individual circumstances stay in one organized place. Premium users unlock a digital vault for group documents — rules, agreements, ID uploads — along with advanced statistics and exportable reports.

Security and compliance

Security is not an afterthought here; it is a foundational pillar. Firebase Authentication secures user accounts. GDPR compliance is enforced with explicit consents, data export rights, and account deletion flows. Age verification (18+) is required at sign-up for legal reasons and for the integrity of the financial relationship inside each group. All legal documents — Terms of Service, Terms of Sale, Privacy Policy — are integrated into the app and kept up to date.

Internationalization

Multilingual support in French and English from day one, with on-the-fly language switching and a fully localized interface. Dates, currencies, and micro-copy all adapt to the user's preference.

Social authentication

Quick login via Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In, automatic user profile creation, and a smooth experience across every authentication mode — the user never has to think about which account they used.

Discovery mode

Access without an account is available for users who just want to explore the app before committing (this is also an Apple App Store requirement). Authentication is only enforced for advanced features, and intelligent authentication guards make the transition from guest to logged-in feel natural.

Firebase Crashlytics captures crashes in real time with symbolicated stack traces, email alerts fire automatically for critical crashes, and advanced analytics feed the product team with detailed usage and reliability metrics.
